장애인 주차표지는 Temporary(임시) 또는 Permanent(영구) 유형이 있으며, 자격 여부는 Virginia DMV의 기준과 필요한 의료 전문가의 Certification을 통해 결정됩니다.

Temporary Placard
일시적으로 보행이나 이동에 제한이 있는 경우 발급될 수 있으며, 현재 Virginia DMV 안내상 최대 12개월까지 유효할 수 있습니다.
Permanent Placard
DMV 기준에 해당하는 영구적인 장애가 있는 경우 발급되는 주차표지입니다.
신청 방법
STEP 1 — MED 10 신청서를 작성합니다.
신청자는 Disabled Parking Placard or License Plates Application (MED 10)을 작성해야 합니다.
신청서의 Applicant Information에는 부모나 보호자의 정보가 아니라 장애인 주차표지를 사용할 장애인 본인의 정보를 기재합니다.

STEP 2 — 원하는 유형을 선택합니다.
신청서에서 필요한 유형을 선택합니다.
Disabled Parking Placard를 신청하는 경우 MED 10을 사용합니다.
Disabled Parking License Plate를 신청하는 경우에는 MED 10과 함께 License Plate Application (VSA 10)도 작성해야 합니다. 현재 MED 10에도 Disabled License Plate 신청에는 VSA 10이 필요하다고 명시되어 있습니다.

STEP 3 — 필요한 장애 확인을 받습니다.
Temporary 또는 Permanent Disabled Parking Placard/License Plate의 최초 신청에는 일반적으로 DMV가 인정하는 의료 전문가의 장애 Certification이 필요합니다.
Virginia DMV는 자격이 있는 physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, podiatrist 또는 chiropractor가 해당되는 범위 내에서 Certification을 할 수 있다고 안내하고 있습니다. 일부 경우에는 의료 Certification 예외가 적용될 수 있습니다.
따라서 신청자가 임의로 Temporary 또는 Permanent 여부를 판단하기보다는 MED 10의 의료 Certification 부분을 해당 의료 전문가와 함께 확인하는 것이 좋습니다.
STEP 4 — 신청서를 확인하고 서명합니다.
필요한 모든 항목과 Certification이 작성되었는지 확인한 후 신청자가 해당 Certification 부분에 서명합니다.
Disabled License Plate를 신청하는 경우 MED 10과 VSA 10이 모두 준비되었는지 확인하세요.
STEP 5 — 신청서를 제출합니다.
완성된 신청서는 우편 또는 Virginia DMV Customer Service Center/DMV Select를 통해 직접 제출할 수 있습니다.
Placard 신청 비용은 현재 Virginia DMV 안내상 무료입니다. Disabled License Plate의 경우 선택하는 번호판 등에 따라 관련 비용이 적용될 수 있습니다.
북부 버지니아 DMV 찾기
장애인 주차표지 신청은 특정 County 주민이 반드시 그 County의 DMV만 이용해야 하는 방식이 아닙니다. Virginia DMV는 any DMV Customer Service Center or DMV Select office에서 신청할 수 있다고 안내합니다. 따라서 아래는 가족들이 편리하게 찾을 수 있도록 Northern Virginia의 주요 DMV를 안내하는 방식으로 넣는 것이 정확합니다.

분실·훼손·갱신이 필요한 경우
이미 Disabled Parking Placard를 가지고 있고 분실, 도난 또는 훼손으로 교체가 필요한 경우에는 최초 신청과 절차가 다를 수 있습니다.
현재 Virginia DMV는 Permanent Placard의 교체를 온라인, 우편 또는 DMV 방문을 통해 신청할 수 있도록 하고 있으며, Permanent Placard는 주소가 정확하게 등록되어 있는 경우 만료 전에 자동 갱신되어 발송된다고 안내하고 있습니다.
Temporary Placard는 갱신할 수 없으며, 계속 필요한 경우 상황에 따라 새로 신청해야 합니다.
