제3회 전미주 장애인체전, 버지니아 선수들의 뜨거운 열정

2026년 제3회 전미주 장애인체전이 텍사스 달라스 지역에서 6월 5~7일 2박 3일 동안 개최되었습니다. 미국 각 지역에서 모인 장애인 선수들이 함께한 이번 대회에서 버지니아 선수단은 볼링, 피클볼, 수영, 골프, 축구, 농구, 축구공 멀리차기, 탁구, 육상 등 다양한 종목에 출전하며 힘찬 도전을 펼쳤습니다.
이번 대회는 메달과 순위를 넘어 선수들이 서로를 응원하고, 새로운 도전에 용기를 내며, 스포츠를 통해 자신감과 소중한 추억을 쌓은 뜻깊은 시간이었습니다.
전미주 장애인체전은 2년마다 개최되며, 다음 **제4회 전미주 장애인체전은 2028년
시카고에서 열릴 예정입니다.**
타주에서 열리는 대회인 만큼 버지니아에서는 많은 인원이 참가하지 못했지만, 적은 인원에도 불구하고 선수 한 명 한 명이 각자의 종목에서 최선을 다해 값진 금·은·동메달을 획득하며 뛰어난 성과를 거두었습니다.
그 결과 버지니아 선수단은 **종합 6위**라는 의미 있는 성적을 기록했습니다.
특히 **Henry 선수는 수영 종목에서 1위를 차지하는 뛰어난 성과를 거두었으며, 오는 9월 한국에서 열리는 장애인체전에도 참가하게 되었습니다.** 버지니아를 넘어 더 큰 무대에 도전하는 Henry 선수에게 많은 응원과 격려를 보냅니다.
앞으로 2년 동안 우리 선수들이 즐겁게 훈련하며 더욱 성장하고, 2028년 시카고에서도 건강하고 멋진 모습으로 다시 도전하기를 기대합니다.

Virginia Athletes Shine with Passion at the 3rd Korean American Adaptive Sports Festival The **3rd Korean American Adaptive Sports Festival** was held in the Dallas, Texas area in 2026, bringing together athletes with disabilities from across the United States. Team Virginia competed in a wide range of sports, including **bowling, pickleball, swimming, golf, soccer, basketball, soccer ball distance kicking, table tennis, and track and field**. Because the competition was held far from Virginia, the team was unable to participate with a large number of athletes. Despite having a smaller team, Virginia’s athletes gave their very best in every event and earned numerous **gold, silver, and bronze medals**. Their outstanding efforts led Team Virginia to an impressive **6th-place overall finish**. A special congratulations goes to **Henry, who earned first place in swimming and will also compete at the Para Sports Festival in Korea this September.** We are proud to see him take on another exciting challenge on an even bigger stage and wish him the very best. Beyond medals and rankings, the festival was a meaningful opportunity for our athletes to encourage one another, embrace new challenges, build confidence through sports, and create lasting memories together. The Korean American Adaptive Sports Festival is held every two years, with the next festival scheduled to take place in **Chicago in 2028**. We look forward to seeing our athletes continue to train, grow, and return even stronger for another memorable experience in Chicago. **Congratulations to all of our Virginia athletes!
